The View Hotel, Eastbourne

Eastbourne

The View Hotel is in a prime location on the beautiful waterfront of Eastbourne. Each guestroom has a view of the sea with the public areas having floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic views.

The 1960’s purpose built hotel started the roll out of the extensive programme of refurbishment beginning with the function suites on the first floor.  The hotel was keen to offer accommodation for both business clients as well as private customers for special occasions. ICA were eager to redesign the hotel to have a contemporary feel whilst being sympathetic to the building and also its existing clientele.

The finishes in the Horizon Suite were chosen to enhance the size of the space and to add an element of opulence with intricate engraved mirrors and fabrics with and inherent lustre to catch the attention of potential customers.

Throughout the main public areas, a modern unassuming design was applied allowing the spaces to be used by the wide variety of clients.  The biggest major alteration was given in the restaurant area, where the existing 2 storey restaurant was floored creating 50% more accommodation above.

Some of the local residents were able to provide interesting images and slides of the local area and of the hotel during its construction period in its early days.  These images were adapted into new contemporary artworks and installed throughout the hotel giving a unique personality to the spaces.
